Perched along the turquoise Caribbean Sea, and bounded by untamed desert beauty, the Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino is a true resort oasis, and a most magnificent setting for your leisure and meeting needs.
Completely outside the hurricane belt, Aruba boasts fantastic year round weather with very little rainfall (85° arid average temperature) and is world renowned for its beaches and crystal clear water.
Ideal beachfront location on exclusive Palm Beach, central to all island activities:
Location: The Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino is located on the famed Palm Beach area of the island, just seven miles from Queen Beatrix International Airport and three miles from the capital city of Oranjestad. A 70-square-mile island in the Dutch Leeward chain of islands. Aruba is accessible from most major US cities with scheduled service on American Airlines, Continental Airlines, US Airways, Delta, KLM, and ALM. In addition, charter flights are available from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland/Detroit, Hartford, Niagara/Syracuse, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.
Entry Requirements: Visitors require proof of citizenship. Residents of the US and Canada may submit a valid passport or (for citizens born in the US or Canada) an official birth certificate with picture ID.
Aruba: The first people to inhabit the island of Aruba were nations of Arawak Indians called the Caiquetios who migrated north from the Orinoco Basin in South America and settled here approximately 2,000 years ago. Remnants of their culture can still be found at a number of different sites around the island, while pottery and other artifacts can be viewed at the Archeological Museum in Oranjestad and at the Historical Museum of Aruba at Fort Zoutman and William III Tower. Cave drawings and petroglyphs can be seen in the Fontein and Guadiriki Caves and at Arikok National Park.
The population of Aruba is of mixed descent and can trace its ancestry back to forty different ethnic backgrounds from around the world. The native language is a Creole dialect called Papiamento which entails elements of Dutch, Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, a number of different African languages, and Arawak Indian. Nearly everyone on the island is able to speak English and Spanish, in addition to Dutch, which is the official language of Aruba.
Papiamento is a unique language, only spoken on the Dutch Caribbean islands. It was considered a local dialect and of no significant interest until the year 1995. Three years later, the Government decided to teach Papiamento officially in the schools as a new language subject. Papiamento books can be found in bookstores, and the language is quite easy to learn. The island of Aruba itself is breathtaking. Surrounded by coral reefs and sugary white-sand beaches, it remains an unspoiled desert wilderness dramatically rising from a shimmering turquoise blue sea. Today, Aruba sits in its glorious splendor and serves as a premier vacation escape, as well as a top destination for windsurfing and scuba diving.
Climate: There is no wrong time to enjoy an Aruba vacation. Temperatures are consistently mild, and there is no major rainy season. The island lies completely outside the hurricane belt, and the ocean temperature hovers around 82 degrees all year long. January, February and March are the most popular times to visit. During Carnival, just before Lent, the island is hopping with parades, festivities, and parties. If you prefer smaller crowds and a more relaxed atmosphere, plan your trip for mid-April through September. Or, if you can't stand another morning of scraping ice from your windshield, hop the next plane and come in the middle of December.
